Police have asked the hotel managements to keep a photo copy of the identity cards of the guests. They were also told to arrange for a CCTV surveillance system and maintain a record of vehicles arriving and leaving the hotels. The hotel managements were asked to ensure that they changed the password for their internet connectivity frequently and that they had a safe and secure WiFi connection.
"We have more than 500 hotels in the district. We have asked the hotel owners to inform the local police about foreigners staying in their hotels. Owners were told not to allow people to use their hotel rooms for gambling and to keep a watch on any suspicious activity. We have also asked hotel managements to maintain the records of hotel staff with their photographs and deposit a copy of the records with the police stations," deputy superintendent of police Naresh Muniya said. He said a special police team will monitor the records and surveillance systems of the hotels.
